About Us

Some things find you when you least expect them.

As someone who has always believed that the most beautiful things in life are made slowly, by hand, with intention and care.
I came to the United States from India carrying memories that many Indians carry in their bones: the smell of monsoon on cotton, the riot of color in a Rajasthani bazaar, and the sound of wooden blocks rhythmically stamping fabric in a sunlit workshop. I didn't set out to start a business. I set out to find a quilt that felt like home.
That's what led me to source directly from artisan workshops in Jaipur — and eventually, to build Pink City Heritage.

About the Name

Jaipur is famously known as the Pink City its old walled city painted in a distinctive terracotta rose, a color that has defined it for centuries. Heritage, because that's exactly what these textiles carry. Every piece in our collection is a living thread connecting an ancient craft to a modern home - yours.

The Craft Behind Every Piece

In the heart of Rajasthan, amidst vibrant colors and rich cultural heritage, Jaipur stands as a beacon of artistic prowess — and one of its most cherished traditions is the intricate art of block printing.
This tradition stretches back over 300 years. During the Mughal era, the rulers of Jaipur offered royal patronage to local artisans, encouraging them to develop the craft. Hand-printed textiles were not just everyday garments - they symbolized status, tradition, and aesthetic sensibility. Inspired by Persian floral patterns and geometric designs, local artisans blended Mughal sophistication with Rajasthani folk motifs, and over time, areas like Sanganer and Bagru near Jaipur became legendary hubs for block printing, each developing its own distinct style.
Generations of artisans - particularly from the chippas community - have perfected this craft, passing it down to children and grandchildren, using natural plant dyes and traditional techniques to create colors that seem to glow from within the fabric.
Visit one of these workshops today and you'll find artisans dipping carved wooden blocks into shallow trays of ink, then stamping - quick, firm - lifting them to reveal flowers, vines, and paisleys that seem to bloom right before your eyes. A single can take days to carve, and intricate designs require exceptional skill - skill that cannot be rushed, automated, or replicated by a machine.

Where East Meets South

One of the things I love most about block print textiles is how naturally they cross cultural borders. If you've grown up in the American South, or simply love Southern style, you'll notice something immediately familiar in our patterns - the paisleys, the florals, the bold repeating motifs. What Southerners have long embraced in their quilts, fabrics, and home decor shares a deep visual DNA with the block prints of Rajasthan.
The paisley itself, so iconic in Southern American style, traces its origins directly back to India. It traveled west centuries ago and never quite left. When you put one of our quilts on a bed or a bag on your arm, you're not bridging two worlds - you're realizing they were always closer than you thought.
